The Alberta Made Production Grant is complemented by the Film and Television Tax Credit, which is part of the government’s aim to develop Alberta’s creative industries by 25% over the upcoming decade.

Film crewmembers that are qualified for the TV and Film Production Work Permit Category may be exempt from taking a labour market test, also called as a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
Three types of entertainment industry personnel who are eligible to apply as business visitors:
– Performing artists – who are performing at a show, concert, festival, or appearing in a guest spot on a TV series or film that is being shot in Canada. As long as their reason for entering the province constitutes a limited-time engagement, they may be considered business visitors.
-Film producers – who are visiting Canada to work on a foreign-funded film, television show, or documentary, but the initiative, must be wholly sponsored from outside the province.
-Essential personnel – who are flying to Canada to work on a commercial shoot with foreign funding. These workers must be traveling to Canada for a limited time, usually less than two weeks.
