British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan released the results for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw that was held last week.
What is Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)?
Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a key part of Canada’s immigration policy, which is focused on attracting skilled workers from around the world. A provincial nominee program allows provinces and territories in Canada to select individuals and families they would like to settle there, based on certain criteria they set.
Although provincial nomination isn’t the same as a Canada PR (permanent residency), it can greatly improve an individual’s chance of receiving permanent resident status.
The Canada PNP Program originally only accepted 400 immigrants when it launched in 1998, but since then has taken more than 80,000 immigrants annually. The increase in the number of people coming to Canada for permanent residency is because the federal and provincial governments believe it is an efficient way to encourage economic development.
The Express Entry Draws are now been held by the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) after a long break. The latest Express Entry Draw took place on August 3 with 2,000 invitations in all while also having a minimum score requirement of 533.
