Canada is all set to resume Express Entry Draws by 6th July 2022.
This exclusive announcement was made by the Canadian Minister, Sean Fraser at Collision which is one of the world’s largest Technology Conference.
Express Entry was introduced by Canada’s immigration department, to facilitate the immigration of skilled and talented professionals, with an online application management system, which is now the most widely used immigration system in the world.
This biggest update implies that Canada can resume issuing Invitations to Apply to skilled worker candidates both in the nation and from outside. IRCC had paused, the invitations to FSWP candidates since December 2020.
The size of these new Express Entry draws will be nearly equivalent to pre-pandemic draws, which means participants may expect at least 5,000 individuals to be invited per draw, with the possibility of an increase up to 6,000 or more. As per Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan for 2022–24, approximately 432,000 new immigrants are expected to enter the country in 2022 and in the following years to come.
Along with this, the most interesting fact confirmed by IRCC is that the average processing time of the new Express Entry applications will be 6 months effective from the month of July, which is definitely lesser than the previous applications time- period!
As we know, due to the travel restrictions throughout the years 2020 and 2021, the processing of overseas applications was delayed. Hence, the recent news update has delighted the hearts of many aspiring Indian as well as International immigrants, whose plans of obtaining permanent residency in Canada had been badly derailed.
The Canadian Minister Sean Fraser further said, “With the economy growing faster than employers can hire new workers; Canada needs to look at every option so that we have the skills and labor needed to fuel our growth”
Express Entry is basically, Canada’s primary point-based system for applicants seeking permanent residency. This means, that the candidates who submit applications are ranked and placed in a pool; also, the draws are held on a regular basis, and candidates with the highest ranking points are invited to apply for permanent residency.
Now, as a result of the temporary halt, IRCC stated that- the federal high-level processing inventory has been decreased by more than half, resulting in a fall from around 1,11,900 persons in September 2021 to just 48000 people in March 2022.

So far in 2022, all Express Entry draws have been Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws. Presently, the borders have been reopened, and Canada’s major immigration route is only months away from resuming fully, the country is possibly expecting a rise in the number of arrivals over the following several years.
