UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak approves 3,000 UK Visas for Indians!
What is UK- India Young Professional Scheme?
As a part of a new agreement between India, the UK Government agrees to take part in an initiative that would allow increased opportunities for the youth from both countries.
According to the new UK-India Young Professionals Scheme, the UK will provide 3,000 visas each year to degree-educated Indian citizens between 18 – 30 years old. Further, if they want to, the immigrants in this country are allowed to live and work there for up to two years. In return, 3000 UK nationals a year will have the opportunity to do the same in India.
This announcement was made just hours after Sunak had a brief meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the course of the 17th edition of the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia. It was their first meeting since Sunak took over last month.
The UK Prime Minister’s office tweeted, “Today the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme was confirmed, offering 3,000 places to 18-30-year-old degree-educated Indian nationals to come to the UK to live and work for up to two years.”
An official from the Prime Minister’s office says that the UK has stronger ties with India than any other country.
Who can apply for the scheme?
In contrast to the Youth Mobility Scheme, which requires no qualifications or knowledge of the English language, this UK- India Young Professional Scheme under the proposed changes- Indians will need to hold a bachelor’s degree at minimum or an equivalent diploma for three years of higher education. They would also need to be able to communicate in the language of their host country.
How the 3,000 Indians be picked under this scheme?
The details for the same are not revealed yet. Due to the eligibility requirements for this visa, millions of Indian nationals could be eligible to apply. Because there are limited numbers of slots, it is likely that a lottery will be held to determine which applicants get the visa. Large technology companies could dominate this category, which would gain a monopoly on the limited spaces available if they offered an easier and less expensive way to bring talent into the UK.
