Victoria’s Skilled Migration Program is Now Open!

What is Victoria’s Skilled Migration Program?

In order to make it easier for those who are looking to migrate, the Australian state of Victoria is now accepting applications from those currently residing in Victoria or overseas. This Program provides skilled migrants with a pathway to permanent residency in Victoria, Australia. The skills that successful applicants bring to Victoria are beneficial for employers and the broader Victorian economy.

The program provides two visa pathways:

A) Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190): It is a permanent visa for skilled migrants to live and work anywhere in Victoria.

B) Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (subclass 491): It is for skilled migrants who are looking to relocate and work in regional Victoria, as well as offers them a pathway towards PR through (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191).

To be considered for nomination, an applicant needs to submit a registration of interest (ROI) and then be selected based on merit to apply for visa nomination. Before applicants can submit an ROI, they need to make sure that they meet all of the eligibility requirements.

Eligibility Requirements according to the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) are as follows:

-A person up to the age of 45 can apply

-Must have Competent English (eg: no lower than 6 per band for IELTS)

-A person must meet the minimum requirement of at least 65 points ( including 5 points of state & territory nomination )

-Has a qualifying skills assessment in an occupation on the eligible skilled occupation list

Requirements for the Victorian Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa nomination:

-Must be committed to living in Victoria (at least 2 years)

-Have had your Registration of Interest (ROI) selected.

Previously, Victoria State permitted nominations from only onshore (working or staying) candidates in Victoria.
