Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced the first Healthcare Targeted Express Entry Draw on 28th June 2023, inviting around 500 candidates to apply for permanent residency under 35 healthcare occupations. They required a minimum CRS score of 476.
In order to tackle the labor demands in the healthcare sector, he made an announcement specifically targeting skilled newcomers in healthcare fields within the Express Entry system.
According to an announcement made today by the honorable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry, the inaugural round of Express Entry draw based on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) categories will commence in the week of July 5th.

Furthermore, among the six categories the healthcare occupations make up the largest number of eligible occupations.
Due to a pressing shortage of workers, the healthcare sector is currently facing a significant demand. In response, numerous provinces and territories have introduced specialized streams within the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) to attract healthcare professionals. These targeted streams aim to address the workforce shortage in the healthcare industry.
To be eligible under the occupation-specific categories, candidates must have a minimum of six months of work experience in one of the specified occupations, acquired within the previous three years. This work experience can be obtained either within Canada or abroad.
